Samas: T-System office furniture
Faced with the challenge of launching several highly competitive furniture lines in the early 1990s, Assenburg and Aspa turned to WeLL Design to guide the product innovation and development process. In response, we devised the so-called “pressure cooker” approach to design: within a week, a multidisciplinary team had summarised the client’s needs and wishes, developed product concepts and defined follow-up activities. The Facility line of office furniture went onto the market just six months later, with the Mezzo line following five months after that. Offering excellent value for money, these formed the basis for an entire range: the T-System. WeLL Design went on to develop the 2Act and E-motion lines.
The system’s secret is its “platform” approach, with a uniform desk frame providing the basis for countless variations. A choice of six distinctive legs, a huge variety of desktops and many practical accessories makes this a flexible system and yet one easy on the facility manager
