BigBin
The 2.5-metre high BigBin is a new waste storage solution which has cut street litter by half in areas where it has been installed. Yet behind the locked door is a standard “wheelie bin” which is emptied in the usual way.
WeLL Design was responsible for the BigBin concept, as well as its design and technical development. These were based upon guidelines compiled by the Clean Netherlands Campaign, which demanded that the solution be appealing, easily recognisable from a distance, awareness-raising and user-friendly.
In a competition to design the “ideal dustbin”, the seaside resort of Bloemendaal aan Zee and the Clean Netherlands Campaign chose the BigBin over 40 other entries.
