Terminal for OV-fiets bicycle

WeLL Design has been commissioned to design an interactive communications terminal for OV-fiets bicycle hire OV-fiets.

This can be used to rent a cycle automatically, and also issues a local map. Sited at railways stations and other key locations, the terminals encourage bicycle use and so promote healthy exercise and environmental friendliness. The device is being developed in co-operation with InfoTake, based upon the same technology as the InfoStop terminal.

InfoStop: InfoTake terminal

Maarten Langen of InfoStop always involves WeLL Design when brainstorming new ideas for information services in public places. We then take on the concept development and design aspects of the project.

The InfoTake is a public terminal which issues a folded sheet of A3 paper – a tourist leaflet or map, for example – when a lever is pulled. To prevent misuse, there is a built-in time delay of 30 seconds before the next sheet can be taken. And, since the unit requires no mains power, it can be installed almost anywhere. The ingenious paper-feed system is resistant to extreme variations in temperature and humidity.

InfoStop: InfoGuide

was developed for inner city use. A modern information unit with touch screen operation enabling the user to visit websites, information pages and the route planner. The unit can also print a map showing a route, a site or an information page.

InfoGuide units are currently installed on the Market Square in Delft beside the Nieuwe Kerk church and in the new shopping centre and are mainly intended for tourists. The InfoGuide is also linked to the central server.
