Traditional central heating and air refreshment are characterized by a heat source i.e. motor that, in most cases, delivers over capacity. Energy wastage. On top of that, a lot of energy is wasted in the pipes. The decentralized units (DCU) of Tegnis accurately adjust the demand for heating and air refreshment to the space in which they are positioned. WeLLDesign is intensively involved in the product development from concept to an industrial product system.
The systems are developed and tested in the well-known phases of proof of concept, function model, product prototype and production prototype. Each phase is consequently defined by a higher grade of detailing, up to production level. Only when the system has proven itself, the details for production are developed.
One of the fundamental decisions was the application of an EPP part, where components can be clicked in and the air guidance and air and moisture density are realized.
Using a quiet fan a pleasant living environment is created, quiet enough for the application in bedrooms. A glass facade gives the product a neat and high-quality appearance and makes it possible to personalize the product.
The DCU of Tegnis is a smart and combining device to regulate the heating, cooling and air refreshment per living space. The DCU is applied in newly-built homes and as a replacement for an existing heating and ventilation system. Being decentralized makes sure that the climate in a single living space can be regulated. It has the advantage of preventing energy wastage because no unnecessary transport of heat through the house to unused spaces is needed.
WeLLDesign and Tegnis have received a GIO recognition for the DCU Climatefit. On saturday October 5th 2019 an independent, professional jury consisting of Jan Siebers (chairman), Zuzanna Skalska and Hans Robertus assessed our DCU and nominated it for Recognition Good Industrial Design 2019.
The DCU Climatefit is included in the special exhibition ‘Good Industrial Design Award 2019’ during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.
